Have your cake and eat it too at Molong bakery

Co-owner of Molong Bakery, Scott Wright, is proud to boast that his cafe sells the best bacon and egg rolls in the west.

He said it doesn’t matter whether you choose barbecue or tomato sauce for your roll,

either way, it is the best eat in town.

The take-away shop sells bakery products from Roberts Bakery and also offers

sandwiches, great coffee and takeaway, according to Mr Wright.

He and his wife Kristy this month celebrated owning the bakery for three years, but did say it was the hardest work he’d ever done.

He says owning the bakery is a nice change after working for years at the Manildra Flour Mill.

It is the couple’s first venture into the retail industry with Mr Wright saying they appreciated the great local customer base.

“We’re getting a few travellers through as well, they’re bypassing Orange and coming

into the little villages, it must be because of the best bacon and egg rolls,” Mr Wright said.

“The bakery is a great place to come and have a coffee.”

Molong Bakery is located at 54-56 Bank Street, Molong and is open 6am to 4pm Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 2pm on Saturday.

New business can give you a great deal

The Molong Bargain Warehouse has only been open for about six weeks, but is already earning a reputation for great deals.

Located behind the Molong Bakery in Bank Street, Molong Bargain Warehouse offers a wide range of quality products at low prices.

"We saw the opportunity to open a store unlike anything else in Molong," Owner Frank said.

Molong Bargain Warehouse stocks bulk commercial and domestic cleaning products, Duncan's pig-hunting gear, homewares, hardware, gardening equipment, personal care products, party and catering supplies, toys and manchester, all at the lowest prices.

Drop in to Molong Bargain Warehouse, open 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am to 2pm Saturday and Sunday.

There will be displays of classic motorcycles as well as food and drink stalls and live music.

Vote for your favourite motorcycle in the show 'n shine, with European, Japanese, American and English bikes on display.

Happy customers the secret to success

AFTER more than three decades in the newsagency business, co-owner Perry Trethowan knows a thing or two about the industry.

Mr Trethowan and his wife Bronwyn have owned the Molong Newsagency for the last 28 years, after moving here from another newsagency in Paynesville, Victoria. They are very ably assisted by staffmember Kerry.

A country boy at heart, Mr Trethowan said he had come to know many of his customers well over the years. Born in Albury, he said regional Australia was the best place to set up a life and business.

“Give me the bush anytime, I get dizzy just going into Orange,” he said.

It is a great industry to be involved in, says Mr Trethowan, who believes “if you’re happy, then your customers are happy”.

“You get to enjoy people and communicate, really you’ve just got to treat people with a lot of respect,” he said.

Mr Trethowan said Molong was a great place to run a business and the busy newsagency had been quite successful over the years.

Located at 25 Bank Street, the Molong Newsagency sells a wide range of newspapers, magazines, stationery, confectionery and a few toys. It is also an agency for Orange Credit Union and seller of lotteries products.

Local knowledge key to serving clients

For about 50 years the people of Molong and district have had access to accounting services from a fully-functioning office in the town.

In 1993 YBM acquired that office from local entrepreneur Jim Swift and since then, YBM has provided accounting, taxation and business services in and around Molong.

The office employs eight people and assists a vast range of businesses, from retail to manufacturing, farming to transport, as well as providing the traditional tax return lodgement services for employees.

The Molong region is prosperous and diverse in a business sense, with some of the best rural properties and practices being implemented by farmers, combined with innovative and state-of-the-art engineering businesses, major franchise groups and successful owner-operated small businesses working together.

YBM has been able to assist these businesses in a variety of ways, from start-up assistance to budgeting, succession planning, compliance services and in-depth business analysis and advice.

Almost 20 years in Molong has given YBM a sound knowledge of the town, the businesses and the people that make Molong a great place to call home.
